• The specific species of Cactus this character referring to is currently unknown.
  • This is because Cacti are poorly classified due to unique characteristics which make it difficult to preserve specimens, and thanks to the historical chaos caused by those who named and classified the 1,400 to 1,800 species in this family. Modern efforts have divided them in to five internationally-agreed-upon sub-families, but no consensus has been reached on how to group the species by genus.
